The Ombudsman’s office

The Ombudsman is supported by an Office in carrying out his duties. This Office is legally anchored in Article 10, paragraph 1 of the National Ordinance on the Ombudsman. The working methods and organization of the Ombudsman Bureau are established by the Ombudsman. The terms of employment of the staff in service are laid down in a personnel regulation. The Ombudsman is therefore authorized to employ staff under employment contracts governed by private civil law. These personnel regulations are adopted following approval by National Decree. The Office's budget, as well as the financial accountability, are the national budget and annual accounts under the chapter State Institutions.
